Automated teller machines (ATMs) are used by banks to expand the services they offer to clients. Through this technological innovation, banks are able to strengthen their strategies of customer relationship management.
According to an industry leader in electronic banking solutions, banks were once hesitant to use automated teller machines. Today, senior banks demand accessible ATM locations to better fulfill the needs of their clients.
Through automated teller machines, banks are able to offer their clients remote services such as bill transfer, cash withdrawal, bill payments, and balance and billing inquiries on a daily basis. The more advanced automated teller machines are even capable of showing video-recorded assistance instructions to help make the transactions of bank clients even easier and more convenient.

ATMs have become effective tools used by banks to maintain the loyalty of their clients. Through these machines, banks are able to fulfill the needs of their clients in even the most remote areas.
When traveling abroad it is best to plan correctly and budget your money wisely. By doing this, if anything happens to your ATM card or if there's any funny transactions, they an freeze the card at anytime. Other people use two different ATM's from different banks, this way if your card gets rejected or encounters any problems you an use the other card that you have. If you don't have any idea about the currency of if in-case the ATM machines gives you a high denomination and you need smaller change, you can talk to your hotel manager and ask them if they can change it for you. If your ATM card doesn't work in a specific machine, it is best to try another one. Keep in mind to read instructions carefully, know your ATM machine to avoid car captures and if you need help, contact a bank personnel that can help you.
Always remember to 'fill up' your card before you actual travel period.
Distribute your money source like wallet, ATM cards and loose bills. ATM's are usually the best way to obtain money in any land. ATM's exchange rates are based upon the wholesale exchange rate and that is usually a better rate than local exchanges offer. Many people are unaware that due to prevalent fraud in certain countries, ATM debit cards access in certain countries is 'shut off' by certain banks. Currently, countries like Romania, Thailand, Japan, the Philippines, Turkey, certain former Russian and Slavic countries and even in England no longer allow debit card access at ATM's. Some ATM's also don't recognize more than 4 digits of a PIN.
If you have a letter based PIN, convert it to a number based PIN as some ATM's overseas are numerical based, not letter based.
Banks have been known to deny legitimate charges upon return to the US because the cardholders bank doesn't know they are no longer overseas.
Lastly, take along your bank contact information in casing you need to contact them in an emergency.
